Queensland Government introduces two new mining initiatives

QUEENSLAND Government has introduced two new initiatives to show its support for the mining industry, which continues to boom despite the earlier economic downturn.

According to the Queensland Government, there are currently 45,800 people working in the field making it 8000 more than at the height of the economic boom in August 2008.

The Queensland Government says the $29 million Smart Mining — Future Prosperity program has been able to deliver an 80% increase in exploration expenditure in Queensland. T

he Queensland Government claims the second initiative; the new Greenfields Prospectivity Unit will further encourage mineral and energy exploration.

The new unit will focus on operating in under developed and explored areas concentrating on major ore deposits, the Queensland Government says.
