Blue Energy coring strong despite drill string failure

COAL seam gas (CSG) developer Blue Energy has announced that despite a previous drill string failure, their Itude 3 well is coring ahead at a depth of 311 meters in the Walloon Coal Measures.

This week, the rig suffered a string failure while coring.

An alternative coring string was sources and operations on the well recommenced shortly afterward.

The company said it expects the total depth will be reached over the weekend.

The Itude 3 well is the last in the ATP854P drilling program and following the completion of Itude 3 drilling operations the rig will move to ATP896P in the Oakey/Millmerran area west of Toowoomba.

There, the company will commence a 5 well Coal Seam Gas (CSG) corehole program.
