Allied Gold report encouraging assays at Simberi Gold

AUSTRALIAN gold producer Allied Gold announced encouraging assays at the Pigiput and Pigibo gold prospects at Simberi Island.

The prospects form part of the Tabar Island Gold Project.

The Pigiput results showed substantial down-hole intersects at varying depths, highlights of which include drill hole SDH029 which intersected 31.5 metres and average grade of 5.63 grams per tonne gold, and drill hole SDH033 which had an average grade of 3.79grams per tonne gold from in a particularly wide intersect of 60 metres.

At the Pigibo deposit gold assays received from 3 holes continued to define and confirm mineralisation.

Drilling at Pigibo was established to supplement and validate previous drilling earlier this year. Across the 3 holes at the Pigibo deposit, Allied Gold found a continuation of similar down-hole intersects to Pigiput, with the most significant intersect being 55 meters at 3.3 grams per tonne gold from 78 meters.

Allied Gold are undertaking in-fill diamond core and exploration drilling at the two prospect areas as part of an A$10 million oxide and sulphide expansion study.
