CHEVRON Australia has announced further drilling success in the greater Gorgon area in the Carnarvon Basin offshore Western Australia.

According to Chevron Australia, the results from the Yellowglen-1 exploration well, located in the WA-268-P permit area approximately 250km northwest of Onslow, indicates a gas column of approximately 137m.

It was drilled to a total depth of 2,760m using the ENSCO 7500 dynamically positioned, semisubmersible rig.

“We welcome this latest discovery as a potential new source of supply underpinning the Gorgon Project and as Chevron continues to grow our natural gas business in Australia,” Chevron Australia managing director Roy Krzywosinski adds.

“Chevron plans to continue making investments in Australia on exploration, appraisal and seismic programs in 2010.”
