West Atlas drill rig plugged

PTTEP Australasia has announced the West Atlas drill rig in the Timor Sea has stopped the leaking well and the main fire at the Montara well head.

The West Atlas drill rig has been leaking for five months.

PTTEP says drill teams pumped approximately 3400 barrels of heavy mud and 1000 barrels of brime down the relief well to intercept the leak.

PTTEP claims over the next 24 to 48 hours, the drill rig will be monitored to ensure it remains stable
